The funky name MonkeyGlasses belongs to a Danish eyewear brand that prides itself on its ecologically and ethically responsible products. MonkeyGlasses’ bespectacled customers can show off their biodegradable frames made from cotton acetate, a kind of plastic that consists of approximately 95% wood and cotton flowers. In addition, the company is hard at work on its zero waste program, turning their leftover material into beautiful accessories.
To stimulate and facilitate the recycling of glasses, MonkeyGlasses set up its own take-back system. How does it work? All the Monkey’Dealers around the world, collect old glasses from any brand, and send them to MonkeyGlasses headquarter. From the headquarter, these discarded glasses then travel to India, where they are given to people in need of glasses.
