Eva Schalckens designs and creates sustainable fashion for women who want to express their identity and personality through their clothes. Her concept revolves around slow fashion: timeless items remain a part of her collections for more than one season and are often available in winter and summer versions.
Schalckens is allergic to overproduction and wastes as little material as possible. To avoid overproducing, the designer doesn’t build up a stock; she works on demand only. In addition, she makes but a few samples of each item. Her customers can try these on to get an idea, after which the items are made to measure.
Schalckens mainly works with leftovers from other Belgian designers, the majority of which she purchases in Belgium. She uses these fabrics to the last scrap to avoid adding to the waste stream. Finally, the designer purposely keeps her production in Belgium.
