Fashion designers Alexander Van Slobbe and Franciscus Van Benthum came up with their project Hacked to question the current fast fashion industry. The duo upcycles and reuses leftovers and anything else the chain leaves behind in its state of overproduction. They thereby claim a spot in the production process.
The idea behind Hacked is to slow down the fashion chain and to add value to both product and design. Van Slobbe and Van Benthum make this happen by adding a handmade layer to prefab design items. In other words, they add their own design to the fast fashion products they salvage. The project puts the designer and his design center stage, hacking the entire system behind fast fashion.
