back Bolt Threads

The American company Bolt Threads has come up with a sustainable alternative to (petroleum-based) polyester clothing.

Bolt Threads makes silk from genetically modified yeast. During fermentation, the yeast produce the proteins that can be found in spider silk. This liquid silk protein can be turned into fiber through wet-spinning, after which it is suitable for making clothes.

Bolt Threads plans to unleash their products on the public in 2016.
